Across the Moor
Summary: Mary and Mrs. Medlock continue on their journey to Yorkshire to bring Mary to her uncles house. On the way they pick up food and Mary sleeps through most of her journey, she is awoke by the storm outside when they reach just outside of Yorkshire. Mary travels through the moors and stares out at the vast house in the distance in the dead of the night.
Characters: Mary Lennox, Mrs. Medlock.
Setting: England, Yorkshire.
Quote to work from: " 'It's just miles and miles and miles of wild land that nothing grows on but heather and gorse and broom, and nothing lives on but wild ponies and sheep.' 'I feel as if it might be the sea, if there were water on it,' said Mary. 'It sounds like the sea just now.' 'That's the wind blowing through the bushes,' Mrs Medlock said."
Research, references, inspiration: For the research and references in order to visualize and illustrate this chapter title I looked into the Yorkshire moors more and the things that Mrs. Medlock describes that live and grow there in my guide to wild flowers book and on the internet.

Final artwork: This is the finalized drawing I intended to create a silk screen print from. The details are minimal as they will follow in the colour separation process and I intend to digitally assemble the drawing in Photoshop as a lot of it will be repeat pattern making. However, the screen print was unsuccessful and instead I did a collection of digital collages instead.
